…but I have graduated and been through institute.
Friday marks my competition as a 3rd grade summer school teacher in Atlanta, GA. It has been experience that I will probably never be able to explain in its entirety. To sum it up, my days began w/ me begin awake, through the lunch line, in the cafeteria, and on the bus by 6:30. Yes, AM. In the last 5 weeks, I have adjusted to being in my classroom by 7 am. Teacher in the morning, and a student in the afternoon (in sessions). I have learned a great deal- about investment, management, diversity, and curriculum. My days ended with me lesson planning and hoping to be in bed by 1 am at the latest to repeat the next day
Fast-forward to the end: I have learned a great deal about all it takes to run a class (and it takes a lot). I have met amazing people (which I worried about), and am getting accustomed to moving to GNO.(which I love more and more).
When I think of college, it seems ages ago, rather then 2 months ago from today. I have managed to check in with my friends despite my 24/7 busy-ness. Yet, I feel like I have branched out and done an enormous amount of work since I walked across the stage.
Tomorrow at 4:30 pm, I have successfully complete Teach for America’s summer institute. I will be on a 1 week break until Round Zero back in NOLA:)
One Day ALL children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education!!
Closing the gap, one class at a time, Ms. G
